Build Baby Build! Haggai 1 &2

The Tea Party insists that the nation drill for oil in the various vats of our country. They use the mantra “DRILL BABY DRILL!” to rally up supporters for their political gain. The prophet Haggai was sent out to campaign in biblical antiquity to rally up supporters for the cause of the LORD. He gathered with the sons of the high priest and governor and told them simply “BUILD BABY BUILD!” Judah, like the United States had over time misused their resources and was now commanded to do something that would increase not just their oil supply, but every supply in the land. God used the prophet Haggai to share with the high officials and the people the reasons why food was gathered but never enough. Workers of the land earned wages, but placed them in bags with holes. Why? Because God’s house was in ruins and these are signs to turn to God. It was time to build His house. How much do they have to lose before they focus on what matters, knowing no matter how hard they work, they will never be full of peace without the hand of God. God knows they would be disappointed because they can’t imagine the temple looking as majestic as it once did, and would they even have the grace to try after turning from God for so long?

So He tells them “‘Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says the LORD; and be strong, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land.’ says the LORD, ‘and work; for I am with you,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!'” Haggai 1:4&5

It doesn’t matter what our political agendas are or how much we drill home or abroad. In the end, it is listening to what God is commanding of us that replenishes the land, increases the oil, decreases the unemployment rate and ultimately heals the land. Most of all in chapter 1 verse 9 God’s peace is among us when His agenda is foremost important. His Spirit with us eliminates fear and establishes His will.

We all have our various opinions of Washington, the government, and the parties by which candidates are elected. My encouragement to you is not abandon these establishments but make priority the Establishment that stands when ours fails. For reminds of in chapter 1 verse 8 “‘the silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.” So, build baby build! Build the kingdom of God in the homeland and beyond! Watch your economy skyrocket and your triple AAA rating remain in tact!
